On May 22, 2018 the Children with Visual Impairments (CwVI) Project organized a workshop for special educators on topics related to working with students with visual impairments and their inclusion in the mainstream education in Strumica. All participants work with children with special needs in their mainstream schools.
Topics which were covered during the workshops were: the process of inclusion in education in Macedonia, the role of the Resource Centers in the inclusive process, characteristics of CwVI, evaluation of functional sight, guiding visually impaired persons, work strategies with CwVI and individual educational plans.
The USAID and LCIF CwVIP runs these workshops in cooperation with the Union of special educators of Macedonia and the Ministry of Education and Science of Macedonia. The workshops will enable the special educators and mainstream schools to offer better services to children with special needs, and promote the Resource Centers in the 4 cities among mainstream schools as main carrier of the inclusive educational process in the following period.
