Simulation of visual impairments – math class at “Kliment Ohridski” primary school in Bitola

On October 27, Lions Club Kabadaja Bitola and special educators from Resource Center for Visually Impaired Children in Bitola organized an interesting activity related to the problems that blind people and people with visual impairments face. This activity was intended to raise students’ awareness about the problems and needs of these category of persons.

In cooperation with the primary school “Kliment Ohridski” Bitola, a math class was organized during which students were given a special kind of glasses (Visual Impairments Simulation Package) that simulate various types of visual impairments. The USAID and LCIF CwVIP has purchased one such set (of 10 pairs of glasses) for each Resource Center and they serve as a very handy tool to demonstrate 10 specific visual impairments.
Special emphasis was given to the way sighted persons need to treat blind and visually impaired persons, as well as an eye health presentation was delivered by the Lions.
