The USAID and LCIF Children with Visual Impairments Project (CwVIP) is a five and a half years’ project that started in October 2014 and is implemented by the South East European University (SEEU), and funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF).

The main objective of the CwVIP is to increase educational opportunities for children with visual impairments through literacy and access to education, and to detect and prevent eye diseases at an early stage. The project has an educational, medical and social component.

The project has set up a Support center for the visually impaired persons in Skopje, in cooperation with Project’s sub-implementer, the City Red Cross of Skopje.

The Support Center runs various activities and skills sessions on an ongoing basis, such as English language classes where beneficiaries, in groups or individually, based on their English language knowledge are actively taking English classes with different professors. The project sees a big improvement in the English language of the beneficiaries of the Support Center and its active use during the classes and higher points achieved in every test the beneficiaries take.
