Today, on March 15, 2017, the Project for Children with Visual Impairments signed the Grant Agreement for the extension of the Project to 2020. This project focuses on improvement of the educational opportunities for children with visual impairments, as well as early prevention of eye diseases.
At the event the Project was officially extended to 2020 with signing of the Grant Agreement between Lions District 132 Macedonia and the South East European University. At the event were promoted Project’s current and future activities undertaken to improve the needs of children with visual impairments in the Republic of Macedonia.
“Access to quality education is a universal human right. Until 2014, less than 1 percent of children with visual impairments in Macedonia could read in Braille (a writing system that allows blind children and those with visual impairments to read by touch). Lions is proud that with the USAID and in collaboration with the South East European University is changing this reality for children with visual impairments in Macedonia “– said Bob Corlew, the International President of Lions Clubs International.
